The tv channels are now overrun with brainless reality shows and series that are too superficial to register.
In the midst of all that is banal it is heartening to find something this engaging and constantly mind blowing. Instead of sticking to the tried and tested formula of the alpha male ruling over the entire frakking galaxy and saving some poor blond damsel in distress, we finally have strong female characters to look up to.
Aside from finding their salvation, Battlestar Galactica brings thorny issues to the little screen, often challenging its viewers on issues such as capital punishment, the use of torture for the greater good, the humanity (or lack thereof) of artificial intelligence and ultimately, forgiveness for those who have done them wrong. How do you forgive the people who brought upon genocide of the human race?
I am filled with great anticipation and sadness as the last 3 episodes of this gripping series approach.
Hopefully Caprica is going to be as thought provoking as Battlestar Galactica.
